Set default values at the Group level

It would be great if we could set default values at the group level, allowing items set for a Group to override default settings for the Board as a whole.

There are times when I want specific Dropdown values, but only on of the Groups in a Board, and automation can’t change Dropdown values, but default values can set them. I’m sure there are other things that this could help solve as well.

Same here. I’m trying to track loan repayments for multiple loans… would love to have the loan amount and monthly payments set as default values for each loan, rather than having to type everything out line by line every month.

Hi! Nice to see that others need the same thing… It would be amazing if this feature get a release. It would be easier to set automations with different default values by group.

Glad to see I’m not the only one who has this issue.

I was just poking around monday.com and it seems that two years later, this is still not a feature.

Not sure what is being adding to this tool, but unfortunately, it’s nothing that adds value to the very basic use we have in mind for it.

Hey everyone!

I saw you’re looking for a way to set default values at the group level. Good news – our “Advanced Templates” app can help! You can create an item template with the desired column values (including dropdowns!) like so:

and then use our integration recipe to apply the template after an item is created in the specified group:

This will effectively allow you to set your dropdown values on a per-group basis, overriding any board defaults for that particular group.

Here’s how it looks in practice:

Check out the app on the monday.com marketplace. Give it a try and see how it can streamline your workflow!

If you have any questions or need assistance setting this up, feel free to reach out here or at team@apmdsoft.com.

Cheers,
Matthew
