Subfolders Within Subfolders

hello! i just joined monday yesterday and im already loving tinkering and maneuvering through the platform and discovering all of the templates available (not quite ready to start creating my own workspace from scratch just yet).

i personally was planning to label my main folders “client 1”, “client 2”, “client 3”, etc., and have their own respective folders, files, sheets, boards, and what have you placed inside. for example, i would like to separate the HRIS subfolder from the HRMS subfolder and while that is do-able and i have done it, the templates I recently installed for Employee Onboarding, Employee Directory, Employee Review, and Recruitment Pipeline are all folders and i cannot move them into the HRIS or HRMS subfolders due to there being a limit of only 1 subfolder allowed. taking them out of the folders would have the same effect as combining the HRIS and HRMS content into one folder. just too messy and disorganized for me personally :hear_no_evil:

i would really appreciate it if subfolders within subfolders could be implemented as it’ll enable myself and others in the community to be better organized and find the material we need quickly and without hassle. in an attempt to avoid another potential request for more subfolders in the future (i noticed im not the first to request the implementation of subfolders in general :full_moon_with_face:), i’d love to see the possibility of utilizing 3 subfolders at once: folder > subfolder > sub-subfolder > sub-sub-subfolder (while naming them like this would make me laugh quite a bit, its not necessary for me to enjoy using it :')). With the workspace outline (left panel) and workspace (right panel) spacing in Work Management being adjustable and everyone utilizing various different monitor sizes, i don’t believe this added feature would negatively affect the UX of the platform, but do correct me if i’m wrong!

We currently can do two levels of sub-folders. I need more than that. My workspace is a combined IT/IS workspace, and we have top level folders for IT, and for IS (plus a couple shared boards, which is the reason for the shared workspace). Inside that IS folder, I have project folders. Each project might have now 5-10 boards and documents. I want to organize the project folders, but I can’t, because I can’t have more than two levels of folders.

hi andy! This feature request already exist! I will combine your post with the existing request. Make sure to vote on it to increase the votes for our product team to see!

It would be great to have an option to add more sub folders in workspaces. Two layers is tough with some of our business groups.

Agreed - within a single workspace I’d like to have multiple project categories (each a folder), subfolders per year, then subfolders within those for individual projects, and even subfolders within those for project parts. 2 layers of folders is very limiting and stands out as a major gap between organization apps like google drive can offer vs. monday.com.

Monday.com really needs to add the multi-level subfolder feature, as the current setup of 2 levels of folders and subfolders is indeed insufficient.

Currently, folders are only limited to one extra layer of hierarchy. We want to have multiple levels of sub folders to manage our boards.

Hi Yosesh!! I merged your request with a similar one to combine the votes!

Many companies could benefit from this. Our use case:

We work in many jurisdictions in the US and need to organize our boards accordingly:

JURISDICTIONS (Parent Folder) > State (folder) > County (folder) > Jurisdiction (folder) > Board #1, Board #2, Docs, etc.

Currently, because we only have on layer of folders, we have the Parent Folder, then 100s of folders named “State_County_Jurisdiction”. It’s a terrible way to stay organized and to find the data we’re looking for.

Adding more subfolders would solve this issue.

Hi @Levelinc

Currently there is support for 2 level of folders. Given that you need 4 levels I would recommend

JURISDICTIONS (Workspace) > State (folder) > County + Jurisdiction (folder) > Board #1, Board #2, Docs, etc.

Not ideal, but adding the workspace gives you at least one additional level

We really need more layers of subfolders than the one that is currently available. We work in different jurisdictions and need to organize our boards accordingly:

  1. Parent Folder (All Jurisdictions)
