Hi Monday.com Community,
I’m writing to request a feature that would significantly enhance the functionality and proactivity of our dashboards: the ability to trigger notifications and other actions directly from charts and dashboard widgets.
Currently, dashboards provide excellent visual representations of our data, but they lack the ability to directly initiate workflows based on the data they display. This limits our ability to react quickly to critical changes and milestones.
The Case:
We often need to monitor specific data points within our dashboards and take immediate action when they reach certain thresholds. For example, we might want to:
- Receive an email notification when a sales target is reached.
- Automatically assign a task to a team member when a project milestone is completed.
- Trigger an integration with another platform when a specific metric exceeds a defined value.
Example Use Case:
Imagine we have a bar chart on a dashboard that tracks the number of “Support Tickets Closed” per agent. We need to be notified via email every time an agent closes 100 tickets.
Current Limitations:
Currently, we can only visually observe when an agent reaches 100 tickets. This requires constant monitoring and manual intervention.
Proposed Feature:
We would like to see a feature that allows us to:
- Set thresholds or conditions directly within chart and dashboard widgets (e.g., “when bar chart item value >= 100”).
- Define actions to be triggered when these conditions are met. This could include:
- Sending email notifications.
- Creating or updating items in boards.
- Assigning tasks.
- Triggering automations.
- Integrating with other platforms.
- Customize notification content to include relevant data from the chart.
This feature would allow us to automate critical workflows and ensure that we are always informed when important milestones are reached. It would also enable us to be more proactive in our response to data changes.
