2-way sync with Outlook Calendar

This article says how to make a 2-way sync using 2 integration recipes Outlook Calendar Integration – Support (monday.com).

If I add both the “When item is created, create and event in Outlook Calendar” and “When event created in Outlook Calendar, create and item”, would that not create an infinite loop of item and event creation? Or does Monday check that the event ID is not already belonging to an item before creating a new one?

Why can’t I choose which calendar the event is created in? And which calendar to watch? Surely that restricts only 1 board to be able to integrate to a microsoft account? There seems to be no way to move an event to a different calendar via API so I can’t even use Make to move it.

Hey Carla!

Charlotte here for the team! Happy to help out with this!

At this point in time, you can only select 1 calendar to integrate with monday.com and it will be the default calendar you use.

Regarding the possibility for an infinite loop with using both those automation recipes, we would suggest testing it out or adding another condition to one of the recipes to avoid endless items and events being created. An example of this could be: “when item is created and status is __, create an event in Outlook Calendar”

Let us know what you think!

Hi @CharlotteK

Are there any plans to make this integration more useful RE choosing calendar?

Either it creates an infinite loop or it doesn’t. I would assume you guys already know the answer, hence why I asked here. If I test it out like you suggest, it’s your servers that will probably not appreciate an infinite loop - it won’t bother me all that much.

I would love to know how to add another condition to an integration recipe.
