AI Deactivation

I recently had a need to temporarily deactivate an AI column. I was wanting to import a bunch of historical records and didn’t want AI to auto-categorize as the import spreadsheet already had them categorized. I selected the column and choose to “Deactivate AI”. However, when I went to reactivate after the column I found that the settings within the AI column had actually been cleared out completely, meaning I had to set everything back up. To me, this feels more like a “Delete” function if you’re clearing out settings vs a deactivate where you’re just preventing the AI from running. Is this intended behavior?

It is the ‘intended’ behavior as far as I know. But I think it’s a great idea and feedback for them. Have you put it on the feature suggestion board? Feature requests - monday Community Forum

I have not but will do so right now. Thanks!

I agree completely with your overview of the situation, Sherri. Just one point of clarification is that the platform was Monday.com. I have gone ahead and submitted a feature request, but if there are better avenues to take to get this to the AI team at Monday I’m happy to take other avenues.

Additionally, we did find a somewhat clunky workaround where we created a duplicate board and de-activated the AI, brought in the data we wanted to, and then moved the data from the duplicate board to the original board. This allowed us to import data without AI running on the new entries, which was the intended purpose for attempting to de-activate AI in the first place. Thanks.
