Automation Based on Date or Timeline

I’m trying to figure out how to automatically duplicate items to another board based on their end date or timeline column.

We work with records that may span multiple years. For example, if an item’s end date is after 08/31/2025, I’d like it to automatically duplicate to the next year’s board (e.g., the 2025–2026 board). This would save us from doing it manually every time.

The problem is: I haven’t found any way to do this in Monday.com. There doesn’t seem to be a way to trigger an automation based on a date value (only “when date arrives”) or to trigger based on a timeline end date.

Has anyone found a solution or workaround? I’m on the Pro plan and open to using formulas or third-party integrations if needed.

Thanks in advance!

Which product (CRM/Work Management, etc) and level (Pro/Enterprise) do you have?

When do you want the item to duplicate? ie right when you create it or towards the end of the current year?

Yes, I have Work Managment and Pro access. I would like it to duplicate as its created.

This would be super easy to do with the workflow center (but that’s Enterprise only). A workaround I’d recommend is adding a status column for year through. You can either manually choose the year in the status column OR turn on AI for that column to auto assign it.

Hey @erikart18 - you might find Smart Timeline + Duration helpful, it supports advanced automations based on both date values and timeline ends, which sounds like exactly what you’re trying to do.

Hey @erikart18

You just need two simple automations to get the exact result you’re looking for!
