We are creating items in a meeting log board from an incoming email. When the item is created, the email subject becomes the item’s name. We have an automation that defaults the date of item to today’s date. We would like to set up an automation that searches in the item name (aka the email subject) for key text and then assigns a label to the item. Example: if the item name contains “internal” add a label “Internal Meeting”.
How can we set up this automation, I was not able to find a template for a string search in an item name.
At this time, this functionality isn’t supported natively, I am sorry for the setback! I like this idea however and encourage you to submit this as a feature request so our community can add their vote
I encourage you to look into our api or 3rd party tools such as make to set up a custom automation like this!
The Advanced Formula Booster reinvents the concept of formulas in monday. It has many unique features.
It doesn’t use the formula column: it can write to any kind of columns (therefore you’re not limited when it comes to displaying the results of your formulas in widgets, calendars, etc.
It uses a completely different formula editor where you can write up to 100 lines (instructions).
It can update multiple columns in 1 formula, from multiple items (not only from the item that triggers the formula )
It includes many more functions than the formula column.
Here is a demo of how this would work: whenever an item is created (manually or through an automation), it triggers a formula that reads the name of the item and adds the appropriate label to a dropdown column named ‘Meeting Type’. If the name contains “Internal” (not case-sensitive), it adds a label named ‘Internal Meeting’. If the name contains “Marketing”, it adds a label named ‘Marketing’.
Thank you for providing this information. Looks great and it’s exactly what we need. Unfortunately, I can justify the additional expense for the app. I wish this kind of functionality was included in monday.com.
