I have built an automation that is working great on one board. Then I created a new board using that one as a template and the automation does not work on the new board. It seems to be the exact same set up. Any suggestions?

Can I ask that your relevant email is connected in the board? Additionally, are you sending the email to the email address from within the E+A app?
