Why can’t automations change the status or selection of a connect column? Many of our boards are connected to one another and this limitation has devalued the concept of using connect columns.
This might not be the answer you might expect.
But for now, I think the only way around this that I know of is to use an app.

I completely agree, Pedro.
As someone who relies heavily on connect and mirror columns to link data across multiple boards, this limitation is a significant challenge. Being able to automate actions involving connect columns would make workflows much more efficient and unlock the full potential of interconnected boards.
For example:
- In an orders board setup, I use subitems for products with a connect board column to pull in product details and pricing.
- Similarly, I use a connect board column for accounts, which mirrors all the relevant account information.
The problem is that this data from connected boards can’t be used in automations. For instance:
- I can’t include the mirrored account email address in an automated email.
- I can’t use other mirrored data in the email body.
This significantly limits automation possibilities and creates extra manual work.
This functionality would truly enhance the power of connected boards and automations, so I’m definitely voting for this feature request!
