Can I block a subitem that is hierarchically dependent on another that someone has not yet completed? How?

It isn’t currently possible to block or hide a subitem based on the completion of another item. I understand where you’re coming from here however and will relay this as feedback to our internal team.
As a potential workaround you could set up this automation up to create that subitem when the item’s status is set to complete.
That said, this will apply for all items in the board. My apologies for the setback at this stage
