Cannot add a board to a portfolio due to private information

I have one project board (a main one, not shareable) which I want to add to a portfolio. However, when I try to add the board, I get the error message: Failed to connect project, the project you’ve tried to connect may contain private information

Can someone explain how I can get the board into my portfolio? The board was duplicated from our template, and I was able to add all other boards to the portfolio. I duplicated the board and tried to deleting columns and changing the access to a shareable board, but so far nothing works.

Did it just start today? monday is being affected by the AWS outage and I’ve seen a few random hiccups. status.monday.com

This has been happening on my team too. In our case, it’s when someone outside our team who has access to everything tries to view Portfolio details from a project Overview

No, it started on 16th September. I changed something in our template and only newer versions of the board are affected. Older ones and duplicates from the older ones can get added to the portfolio.

What did you change on the template?

A few things, like adding a new status to the status column, adding effort columns, etc

But nothing should have an impact on the portfolio. There are no viewing restrictions, the board is shareable, no info is shared in other boards. I tried out restricted columns and the feature Set columns as mandatory, but changed it back to normal.

So honestly, I am completely lost and really tired of trying things out because my time is limited. I tried deleting a few from the edited columns, but still got the same issue. Something in the board itself is causing this issue. I even get the issue when the board is completely empty, with no automations and items entered or shared to any people.

That issue usually happens when the board’s privacy settings restrict access to certain members or contain sensitive data. I faced a similar problem while managing a shared project for a transportation team, and it turned out that the portfolio owner didn’t have the required permissions. Once the board’s privacy settings were adjusted to include them, the issue was resolved immediately.

Thanks for your input! I am getting more and more the impression, that this is a bug. Because I am the owner of both, the board and portfolio. And even an empty board is causing this issue.

Sounds like it! If you haven’t already, here is the support email support@monday.com
