Change column type without destroying formulas depending on it

I created a text column, the value of which is used in 43 formula columns. I would like to change this column to either number or status, because text columns cannot be used in automations.

When I change the column type, all references in the formulas are lost and redirect to the (then) deleted text column. Thus, I’d have to manually change all 43 formula columns. That’s just way too big a pain!

Is there a workaround?

For anyone interested: keeping the formulas updated when changing the column type is currently not possible.
