How to Automatically Move Leads to Contacts and Link Them to a Company?

Hi everyone!

I have three boards in Monday.com: Leads, Contacts, and Companies.
The Leads board contains the following data: First Name, Last Name, Email, Company Name.

I would like to set up an automation that performs the following steps:

  1. Moves an existing entry from the Leads board to the Contacts board.
  2. Creates a new entry in the Companies board (if the company does not already exist) based on the data stored in the Leads board.
  3. Automatically links the newly created company to the transferred contact.

Does anyone know the best way to set up this automation? Would it be possible using built-in Monday automations or integrations?

What trigger to create a contact? ie status change or button click?

A new contact is created by pressing the button.

Do you have the workflow center or just automations? Workflow center would be easiest, but can be done with a few automations. ie When button pressed, move the lead to the contact. Then on the Contacts board use the template

I forgot to add that the idea is to use solutions provided by monday.com. I want to avoid paid add-ons.

Thank you for that. The video shows you don’t have workflows (it’s still in beta). So you’ll need to use automations ie add a column that includes an automation that when clicked, it moves the item to the next board. Then use automation on the next board to connect to to existing company. Have you used automations previously?

We can set up a seamless workflow to move leads to contacts, create new companies if they don’t exist, and automatically link them together.

When a lead is moved to a specific group or status in the Leads board.
Use an automation recipe or an integration tool like Make.com or Zapier to move the lead to the Contacts board.
Check if the company already exists in the Companies board. If not, create a new entry.
Link the newly created company to the contact using a connection column.

Thank you, but before we enter the company’s 3 tool, the assumption is to use native monday solutions.

Yes, I know automation and I can work with them… The problem I have is that I have no idea which automation to use on which board. And here’s a request to you…
On the Leads board, use the buttons and automation “x”
On the Contacts board, use automation “y”
On the Companies board, use automation “z” to connect to the Contacts board

On leads - when button clicked, move item to Contacts Boards
On Contacts - you should be able to use these template automations to do what you need.
