We need a board for onboarding process, what is the best way to create a board that can automate this?
I have seen boards with a kind of “standard” SEO task for a period of 6 month, is it possible to then automate these tasks to every new client?

Not possible, the workaround for that is to create template for Onboarding process. Then you can setup automation when new client is in onboard stage automatically generate board for Client. After that if you think you need to change tasks or add new tasks , you can change in template or board generated.
