How to Deal with data loss

I have an excel file when size increased i face many issues like file doesn’t load properly, sometimes i also faced data loss also but that was not so critical i am just curious if i lost important data by chance is there any way to recover it.

@Anny12 I used to have this problem all the time before I had Monday.com. I used to have lots of versions of excels and backups. Its so nice now having everything in the platform auto saved and backed up.

Yes, if you ever lose important data on Monday.com, there are a few options for recovery:

  1. Check the Activity Log: Monday.com has an Activity Log that records all changes made to your boards. You can review the log to find specific actions that might have caused the data loss. While it won’t directly restore the data, it can help you track changes.

For example if lots of tasks had been deleted they go to a bin folder you can quickly and easily restore as an admin / board owner.

  1. Restore a Board Version: Monday.com offers a feature that allows you to restore previous versions of a board. To do this, go to the board, click on the three dots in the upper right corner, and select “Board activity.” You can then find earlier versions of the board and restore it to a prior state if necessary.
  2. Contact Support: If the data loss is significant and you’re unable to recover it through the above steps, Monday.com has a support team that can assist with restoring data from backups, depending on your account settings and plan.
  3. Automations and Integrations Backups: If you use automations or integrations that back up data externally, check those platforms for any available backups of your information.

Make sure to periodically back up important boards or use features like version history to prevent data loss in the future!

In the 5 years of using monday, I’ve never seen data go missing in monday.

However, I’d say +5 to using an automation or integration. With a little technical knowledge you can use this free no-code integration tool, and make regular backups of critical fields into another place like google sheets.

This means you would have flexibility on how often backups are made, and what fields are backed up.

Additionally, you wont have to rely on waiting for someone to come back to your request. And should you were suddenly be unable to access monday, you’d have your critical data somewhere accessibly for free.
