How to hide completed sprints/tasks in Monday Dev?

My team has recently started using Monday Dev for managing projects/tasks via sprints and epics. While we would ideally like to clear out completed sprints from the task board, there are a few issues we seem to be running into.

We can’t simply delete/archive completed tasks, as these tasks are part of ongoing epics, and we need to review epic progress. We don’t want tasks fully removed until the epic is complete.

The sprint view is starting to get too busy/clogged with past sprints. Deleting a sprint moves tasks back into the backlog which isn’t great. We need the backlog to house future tasks only.

For planning the next sprint, we would like to see ONLY active sprint(s), not-yet-started sprint(s) and the backlog. I can’t figure out a view that provides this, so we end up having to scroll through (or collapse/uncollapse groups).

I would love to hear how other teams are navigating this!

This is also our problem right now. I hope someone can give some insights related to this. Kinda frustrating.

Yep - I asked this recently, too: We need to be able to "properly" archive epics, sprints and issues

UPDATE: I’ve come up with a process that seems to be working well.

  1. Created two new boards: Completed Tasks & Completed Epics
  2. Each board has the same columns as the Dev Tasks and Epic Roadmap, respectively, PLUS each has a new mirror column to the Completed boards.
  3. When an epic is finished, I first move the tasks from Dev Tasks to Completed Tasks, then I move the Epic to Completed Epics

This keeps the tasks and epics tied together for easy review while clearing out old clutter from the active Dev Tasks and Epic Roadmaps boards.

For our sprint planning, we use a view on the Dev Tasks board that only shows Epics with a specific timeline (say, next month or two) and assign tasks based on Epic priority.
