Description:
I am experiencing an issue with a Managed Template where newly added formula columns do not sync correctly to existing instances of the template.
Steps to Reproduce:
- I created a Managed Template with some formula columns.
- I then created 60 instances from this template — all of which correctly included the original formulas.
- Later, I added new formula columns to the template and published the changes.
- These new formula columns appeared in the 60 existing instances, but the formula logic was blank in all of them.
- I tested by creating a new instance (#61) after publishing the changes, and this new board correctly included the new formula columns with the formulas intact.
Expected Behavior:
As this is a Managed Template, I expected that publishing changes would update all existing instances, including the formula logic in newly added formula columns.
Actual Behavior:
While the new formula columns were added to existing instances, the formula logic was not populated, leaving the columns blank. Only new instances created after publishing the changes receive the correct formula logic.
Impact:
This behavior defeats the purpose of using a Managed Template, which is intended to allow updates to propagate across all existing instances. Manually updating each of the 60+ instances is not scalable.
Request:
Please confirm whether this is a known issue and if there are plans to fix it. If not, I would like to formally request that this behavior be addressed so that formula logic in new columns is properly synced to all existing instances when changes are published in a Managed Template.
PS Copilot helped me write this… good job
PS You could add a label managed template I only found template
Best Regards!
