Hey there,
i’m using templates to create my new boards and do also use linked columns to my highlevel board. I really like the Idea of the Item Default Value, but it looks like it has a Bug
If i change the Item Default Value in a Board created from a Template, this value is also changed for all other Boards created from the same Template. This would make sense if i change the value directly in the Template, but not in a Board craeted from the Template, right ?
Trying to create a high-level/low-level board system. I followed the tutorial exactly:
Created a template and automation in the high-level portfolio board so when an item’s status is changed to “Launch,” it creates a new board using the template.
In the new board (low-level) created from the template, I created my action items, selected all, and linked them to my project portfolio (high-level) board item.
Then, assigned the default item value to link any new items created in the low-level board to the project portfolio item in the high-level board.
The first time I tested this it worked. All subsequent tests however, when I assign the default item value to link to the portfolio, it changes both the template default, as well as any/all other boards created from the template.
Is there an update on this? It’s a critical blocker for my team as we’re trying to switch to this high-level/low-level board system and if the high-level board does not update automatically when new items are added to low-level boards (or worse, all low-level board data is changed to display only one low-level board’s items), then this isn’t a feasible solution.
Please let me know if you need additional information re: the steps I took, what order, etc.
