Item Status Update based off of Keywords

Hello! I have been trying to create an automation that changes the status of an item based off of what keywords the text column contains.

For example, I would have Zapier send the TEXT column a string of words from Quickbooks → if this string contains the words “Screen Printing”, then it would change the status of my job to “Screen Printing”. If it contains BOTH of the words “Screen Printing” & “Embroidery” - then it would change the status of that item to “Combo”. So on and so forth.

Has anyone ran across a similar function? It doesn’t seem like this is possible but it would be extremely helpful to me.

Trying to do something similar. I know this is really old, but did you find a solution?

You might want to check out this app in the marketplace: Update Magic #1 .

It has this recipe that might work for you:

Hi! I was wondering if your use case would allow you to do a workaround and thought I’d offer some suggestions.

Perhaps change the text column to a dropdown or status type, as those can be additional conditions to “when an item is created”.

Another workaround could be when a column changes and another column has a condition, then set the status.

Depending on your needs, making small tweaks like adding a 2nd condition or changing the column type, so it easily fits into an integration can save you headache down the road.

I hope this is helpful! Cheers  Shawna

I misread the initial post. If you are looking to do a status change based on keywords in a text column, use the Column Magic app with this recipe instead:
