I am a photographer and use the LABELS to identify high schools the kids are from then create data based on that column
It seems that labels has a limit how many different label you can have.
Is there a better way besides text field. I like the autopopulation button

There is now way of getting around that limit.

Consider database management for flexible data handling. Contact support or check for updates to increase label capacities.
