Looking for project management cost and lead time estimation boards

Need a project imitation cost and lead time estimation board template for my new PMs.

Hello @b.covey Welcome to the community!!

As a PM too I love looking at the pre built templates from Monday. You have a few options!

To create a project initiation cost and lead time estimation board template in monday.com for your new project managers, follow these steps:

Template Outline

Your board should include the following key elements:

  1. Projects/Tasks List: Each project or task to be initiated.
  2. Cost Estimation: Fields to input cost breakdowns.
  3. Lead Time Estimation: Sections for time-related estimates.
  4. Responsibility and Status Tracking: Assigned PMs and status updates.

Steps to Build the Board

1. Create the Columns

  • Project Name (Item): Use this to list each project or task.
  • Priority: Add a dropdown or status column for priorities (e.g., High, Medium, Low).
  • Estimated Cost: Use a Numbers column for cost input. Add a formula to calculate totals if needed.
  • Estimated Lead Time: Use a Timeline or Date Range column to estimate timeframes.
  • Assigned To: Use a People column to assign project managers.
  • Status: Use a Status column for tracking (e.g., Planning, In Progress, Completed).
  • Risk Level: Add a dropdown or status column for risk evaluation (Low, Medium, High).
  • Notes/Comments: Use a Text column for additional details or comments.

2. Group Items

Organize your projects into groups such as:

  • Upcoming Projects
  • Active Projects
  • Completed Projects

3. Automations (Optional)

  • Set reminders for PMs to update estimates after certain deadlines.
  • Trigger notifications when the status changes to “Completed.”

4. Dashboard (Optional)

Create a dashboard to visualize:

  • Budget Summary: A widget to track total estimated costs.
  • Lead Time Overview: A timeline view of all projects.
  • Project Status Overview: A chart for status distribution.

Also once if you do create a custom board make sure to save locally as one of your core templates for each project to be able to duplicate and share all the same set format with other PM’s this will make it much easier to roll up or report at PMO level across projects / your portfolio.
