On every item on our board we wanted a place to write notes that are transferable to the next person in a proces. We also wanted a nice little template.
On this community I found a great solution:
-A monday doc column with a template (you can set a template with column settings)
So everytime you click in the column to create a mondaydoc, a nice little doc with template is made.
I first made a monday doc and saved that doc and added it as a template
I then went to the colum settings and set this template as the default template for this column. Worked great…
But now I wanted to update this template because after using it for a while we wanted to add some stuff. So for new created monday docs I wanted an updated template.
So I thougt editing the template that you see in the picture above would do the trick. But no… I would still get the old template when creating a new mondaydoc.
I then found out that I could edit the template that was used for the column by going to column settings and edit the template there (’ Docsjabloon bewerken’ means edit template in dutch).
If I edit the template there it will be updated for every new mondaydoc made in the column.
It’s not what I expected. It seems it copies the original set template for the column? And since I used the template on 2 boards, I now need to edit the template seperatly on 2 boards in the mondaydoc column. Instead of just editting that one template that I thought would be linked to the columns.
I asked support but they kept explaining that updating a template would not update existing docs. But that was not the point of my question, I get that. It’s about the template for new docs.
Am I missing something? Or is this just the way it is.
