Reorder automation steps

I have a few automations that add subitems to a row, and now need to insert a step in the sequence (yes, order is important for these). It looks like I need to add a step at the end and then edit lots of them, instead of simply reordering. Is there really no way to reorder steps in an automation?

You’re right to notice that Monday.com’s automation builder doesn’t currently allow you to drag and reorder steps within a single automation recipe once it’s been created — which can be frustrating when you want to insert something into the middle of a sequence.

Current workarounds:

1. Add the new step at the end, as you mentioned, and then rebuild the automation manually in the correct order.
2. Duplicate the automation, and re-add steps in the desired sequence — still manual, but it can help preserve some parts.
3. If your automation is triggering multiple subitems or actions, consider breaking it up into multiple smaller automations to maintain clarity and make future edits easier.

Unfortunately, as of now, there’s no built-in way to simply reorder the actions within a single automation. You’re not missing anything — it’s just a current limitation of the platform.
