Is there a way to restrict the name column from being edited as I do it in the other columns?
Hello! To restrict editing of a column, try adjusting the column permissions. To access column permissions, click on the three-dot menu next to the column title, then choose Settings and select “Restrict Column Editing.”
As of now, based on this recent discussion Feature Request: Lock an item/row column, I’m not sure if there is a way to essentially “lock” the column to totally prevent editing–but maybe adjusting the permissions will help!
The thing is that the only column that doesn’t have the settings option is the item name. So the problem steal exist…
Hello!
Yes, you can restrict editing in specific columns in Excel by locking those columns and protecting the worksheet. First, select the column you want to restrict by clicking on its header. Then, right-click the selected column, choose “Format Cells,” and go to the “Protection” tab in the dialog box that appears. Check the “Locked” box to lock the column. After that, go to the “Review” tab on the ribbon, click on “Protect Sheet,” and set a password if desired. Make sure that the other columns you want to be editable are unlocked by unchecking the “Locked” box in their respective Format Cells dialog. Once you’ve protected the worksheet, only the unlocked columns will be editable. This method ensures that the Name column remains restricted while you can edit other columns as needed.
