Sales Revenue Forecasting - Results of a formula column to Task?

We want the results of a “Formula” column to show as a “Task” - Is there any way to do this?

We seek assistance in extracting the monthly total forecast value from the Sales Ops formula column and displaying it as a revenue projection. We aim to create tasks labeled with the “£ total” that can appear on a separate board, with live links to update them as needed.

We want the formula outputted as a “task” so we can show visually on a dashboard how much each month the new Sales op would generate as revenue.

Tagging @WLane to see if he has any advice

Hi @Clarey, thanks for the tag. A few questions to help me understand the use case here…

  • Would the ‘task’ item on board 2 be a total from board 1 column for the month?
  • Are new items added to board 1 over the months, or are they a fixed list?
  • Is there any forecasting formula being used to project the forecast, or is it just intended to display the totals from board 1?

Thanks

Hi Wally,

Yes the ‘task’ item on board 2 would be a total from board 1 column for the month so if I have 10 formula columns I would want 10 tasks. Does that make sense?

The columns can be added to but for now are a fixed list.

It is just intended to display the totals from board 1.

 thanks for the support!

Got it, thanks. I’m on leave for 2 weeks, so I’ll ask around if someone can take a look for you in my absence.

Clare,

Long time Monday user. First time poster on the boards here. I am a part of the ambassador program and am responding to Wally’s ask.

From what I understand you have a formula generating on Board 1 and you want that formula value to appear in Board 2 as a “task” and Board 2 is a Dashboard not a full project board correct?

You should be able to setup a Table Widget on your dashboard to see the data from Board 1 as it is and then you can filter down what data you want actually shown and it will work. Beyond that there are a ton of chart, graphs and other fun widgets that can display your sales data in a lot of different ways in the dashboard view.

If you need Board 2 to be a full project board it will be a matter of getting your raw sales data into Board 2 via manual or automated pushes. Unfortunately, formula field data cannot be traveled between boards so it would be a matter of getting the raw moved over and rebuilding the same formula. You can do much of the same view options in Board 1 as you can do in a dashboard so you might want to look at a new board view but a clean and easy dashboard is nice for quick glance big picture stuff.

Hope this helps!

Steve
