I have a board that is automatically sending emails to organizations that may have up to 3 contact email addresses. I have the 3 email address columns mirroring to my board, and then am using General Caster to concatenate the emails into a singular text column named Emails, the emails separated by a semi-colon.
The problem I have is that I want to set my Status column to Responded once someone replies to an email being sent from the board. It appears as though I can only use the Emails & Activities automation to set status when email is received from an address in an email column, not a text column. And there isn’t an option to use any of the mirrored email columns on the board either.
Have you considered splitting out the automated email recipe into the 3 so one was mapped for each and then you could use the Emails & Activities integration recipe to change the status upon response? May mean a little extra work but would set it up smoothly for you.
Hi Peta, thank you for the suggestion! Is there a way that you know of to get the Emails & Activities recipes to work with email columns that are mirrored from another board? I do not see them as an option currently.
You’re right - Most automations can’t see the mirror columns. As a workaround, you can look to utilise a third party app like ‘Column Magic’. This allows you to copy the mirror column and paste into a suitable column (like an email column) via automation, so then your normal automations can work with the right columns.
When I last checked, Column Magic allows up to 1,000 actions per month free, then chargeable account by volume of actions from there. I recommend checking it out in the app Marketplace.
