Standard Tasks in Monday

Hi there, I am part of a team that is using Monday.com to collect hours by project to better inform our costing models. We’re in the process of trying to expand this dashboard to both check the aggregated hours by project against the budgeted hours as well as forecast existing work.

The way we’ve set up the board a “Item” (Or first column in any Monday board) is ultimately ignored (team members don’t have strict guidelines on what to call the entry) and the key statuses we track are all pulled from mirrored boards and the only manual entry the team must get right is the inputted hours spent on the task.

This creates a problem if we want to mirror to a “Forecasting and Performance” board because there is no “grouping” of tasks. (Since the “Connection/Mirror” always pulls from the first column) However, if we could make “Project” a drop down in the task column (First Column) that would really help solve this issue.

Long story short: Can we make the first column a dropdown?
