Hi everyone! We have a board in which we have, among columns, a calculated formula field that generates a number. I’ve read that the output of the formula field is not stored anywhere and cannot be used in automations. I am looking for an alternative solution that would not include installing an app. Is there a way to potentially store the value of the formula field in a column without any additional apps?

No, there is not.
What if we could break free of the Formula column? and write formulas that update any type of columns? What if a formula could update multiple columns at once? This is possible with the Advanced Formula Booster app.

Sadly not.

There are plenty of apps that can do this, but there is no native monday solution for it yet.

@cristiana.nedelciu Bas is spot on; The reason these various apps exist, is a result of the platform’s lack of this capability natively.
Your other options would be using an API platform like make.com/Zapier, but that’d be far more complicated than it needs to be for your use case.
Lastly, it is highly anticipated that in monday’s updated ‘workflow builder’ (see below) which combines integrations + automations together in a sequence-like building experience) that formulas in automation will be possible. But there is no guarantee to when this will actually get released, and what will/wont be included.

Thank you so much for your answer! Yes, I saw there are many apps that enhance the functionality of the platform - the reason why I am trying to avoid apps as much as possible is because I work for a non-profit oragnisation and having to use apps would increase our costs. I am, however, keeping my fingers crossed for the possible enhancements of workflow builder.
