Our team has large project plans (most with more than 400 rows) that currently exist in excel. I’ve tried to import a CSV file into Monday.com but realized there is no way to preserve tasks and subtask hierarchies.
We split all of our projects into phases and these should map to task groups in Monday.com. We also utilize subtasks in our excel files which should map to subtasks.
One possible solution would be to use (*) symbols to designate project phase headers as well as tasks. Any project header would start with * and any task would start with **. Any row of the CSV lacking the designated symbol would become a subtask of the first task above it with the designated symbol.
For example:
*Project Kickoff - Task Group
**Schedule Project Kickoff Meeting - Task
Identify Meeting Attendees - Sub Task
