Why can't file form questions accept all that file columns do?

File columns allow adding files ‘From computer’, ‘From Google Drive’, ‘From Link’, and more.

So why can’t file questions in Forms accept all the same types that the column does?

I currently have to have a file question mapped to a file column AND a link question mapped to a link column, even though the file column could hold both.

Does anyone have workaround advice?

Thank you for your feedback, which I have relayed directly with the product team internally.

I’ve spoken with the team internally and wanted to provide you with a little more context. The file question is a newer question type we’ve built and it’s a leaner version of the file column. We do have plans to support different file upload sources such as the link type in the future, so do stay tuned for updates!
