Wrap text in column headings and/or cells

Please, this is a must-have-functionality for my team.

Yes, this is a must have functionnality !
Why could they not use same format than the update section ?

How is it that 3 years later, this pretty standard capability is still not available? It’s hard to comprehend. Has anyone found a workaround or solution to this?

When this coming? Such a simple feature to add as you already have support for rich text content in the updates and info box widgets. This is a standard feature in every other CRM I have worked with.

Hey guys,

Just a reminder if anyone is still looking for this functionality - Team here at SpicyTab has developed an app for this, because we needed this as well:

It is available in the marketplace: https://monday.com/marketplace/10000030

I just tried to download your app but it immediately said that the free trial had expired. Totally happy to pay if it works but I haven’t even been able to try it out!

Hey @charmagne.rbt - I’m really sorry to hear that. The trial (and billing) is handled by monday. Could you please reach out to support@spicytab.com so we can see what the issue is? I would love to get to the bottom of it.

Thanks for alerting us about it!

Uninstalling and reinstalling fixed it for future reference!

@NikolaMastilovic Can you tell me how to use your app to add html to a column in an item? Description/Board as HTML is not option for me.

Hey @dean_m - Can you email us your use case to support@spicytab.com? Thanks!

We could really use this too! We need to be able to have a nice layout editor built in to the long text box

Really important feature!
Currently, we have to use the ‘Updates’ section instead which prevents us from having any structure to our discussions/summaries

So it looks like you can now add a Monday Doc as a column. I think this basically accomplishes what we need? Anybody see a downside?

Great idea and thanks to everyone for sharing feedback and thoughts. We’ve discussed the request to be able to wrap text in column headings and cells with the development team. Although they agree with the need for this feature, as of now it is not immediately planned, due to other priorities and team capacity.

We would love to keep hearing how this feature would impact your workflows and will update with any development changes. Requests like yours help guide us in prioritizing the features that our customers care about the most. So keep the ideas coming because your feedback makes a difference.

Have another idea? Submit it by opening a new topic!

@mchinsky @Julietteb The feature seems great but if you can’t access it through the API it shouldn’t exist. Personally I believe when you add any feature to Monday the API access portion of it should be available at the same time or within a short time afterwards. I apologize in advance if I am mistaken on API access to documents.

No - because using the Doc column in an automation usually just ends up getting translated into a link to the doc rather than its contents.

We frequently need to send an email to set of contacts stored in a Board, based on various filter criteria. Perhaps committee memberships stored in a tags field, or people who are missing a particular field, etc. These are always one-off messages, so truly automated solution does not work, and there could be dozens so the basic gmail/Outlook integration does not work. Support pointed me toward a workaround using a Button, which can be combined with a field where an email could be composed to represent the content
but there is no way to use rich formatting. Using a Monday Doc just emails a link to everybody. So, the real paint point for us is no way to select multiple records for a simple copy/paste OR access multiple email contacts at once, but this seems like a more generally applicable workaround.

This would be a very easy ask to implement. Wrapping text is already available in columns such as “Long Text”. Why hasn’t this been implemented yet, after YEARS of asking? I’m guessing it’s a simple click of a button to apply the option to all columns.

Hi guys,

Our company develops the Smart Spreadsheet for monday app - hope it will help you to use Excel-like features right on monday.com platform.

You’ll be able to import/export your data (and boards with items as well) and work with it as a fully functional spreadsheet (cell formulas, conditional formatting, pivot tables, etc.) in one place.

Best regards,
Katerina Kovriga

This is such a frustrating feature to still be waiting on! When I’m exporting status reports half the information gets cut off from our risks and issue registers. Whilst you can see more info in each cell if you move the cell size to triple cell, that then means you can see a fewer number of risks/issues before it gets cut off where it starts to scroll
