I am in a new role and have Board Ownership of several departments & individual boards. I’m cleaning up legacy boards with a lot of history and can’t edit any automations from other users. Even if they aren’t board owners. Even if I am the board owner.
Any automation made by others is locked from editing - even with board ownership. So far, it seems like the current workflow is to literally solicit EVERY SINGLE person to remove or transfer ownership of the automations?
Honestly not sure why there’s two different ownership tracks but what’s the ACTUAL way to solve this other than deleting and rebuilding all of the boards?
Hi Jason, this is possible & there are two ways to tackle this.
If you need only to transfer on a board level, this can be done for each automation as follows:
Board Level Transfer:
Go to the Board automations tab on the specific board.
Click on the three-dot menu next to the automation you want to transfer.
Select Transfer ownership and choose the new owner from the dropdown menu.
(Weather or not you can perform this will be dependent on the account & or workspace permissions. If not, the account admin will need to perform the transfers).
Should the automation owner no longer need or require to own/adjust said automations, then transfer of automation ownership can also be achieved on an account level:
Transfer All Automations:
If you are an admin, go to Administration > Users > Automations Ownership.
Select the current owner and assign a new owner from the dropdown menu.
This allows you to either transfer individual automations on a board or all automations owned by a user.
This feature is available on all Standard, Pro, and Enterprise plans.
Has the Board Level transfer always been present or recently added? We were very alarmed recently when a non-Admin user transferred automations away from an Admin. Since this is an all or nothing thing when done from the Administration area you can understand our concern. We did not know that a board owner can transfer ownership of automations running on their board. We thought only Admins could do this function. Mini heart attack to say the least!
