I’ve been messing around in Monday with this for a bit now and haven’t been able to figure out how to make this work.
Essentially, I want to be able to use Gmail integration to send an email based off an update that was made on a specific item.
So the flow would be:
-Update created on item
-Automation pulls email address from text column on specific item
-Email sent to the person who’s email was entered in the email text column using the content of the Update that triggered the automation to begin with.
From what I can see, there’s no way through the auto populate field, to pull info from an update, and I’m assuming it’s because there would be no way to distinguish between which update to send, but wasn’t sure if there was some way to do this with a different integration?
The key is that it needs to be able to send an email to someone who isn’t on the board based on the email in one of the text columns.
You raise a great point. I am afraid it isn’t currently possible to include specific updates in the content of an email automation. I agree that this would be a valuable addition and encourage you to submit this as a feature request so our community can add their vote.
On that note, you might like to look into our API incase this can be set up using it - monday.api
Has there been any update on this in the past year? We require a feature like this for a ticketing system and would prefer not to pay a third-party service like Make.com. This is what I currently see:
Alternatively, even if it’s not an “automation”, is there a workaround to send the entire update as an email to the person in the email column? We do not want to send a link to the update (the board is not available to everyone), just the content of it including any images. So a functionality like once the update is written, clicking a button automatically emails that update to the person in the email column. We currently have “Solution Description” and “Solution Files” columns that will be sent, but this is really clunky and unintuitive design for the users of the board and we have already been asked to revise it.
Hi Noah, I’m not sure I understand the use case entirely, but you can check out some apps that may be able to help such as SuperMail which can send emails triggered by automations. It may provide the solution you’re looking for.
