Create automations that connect items (connected boards) on the basis of unique ID column

When using the following automation:

  • When item is created in this board, [connect] the item where [column] matches [column] in [board] by this logic*

… It would be ideal if you could link items on the basis of the item ID column, as this is the only column that is unique for each item in a board.
I’ve witnessed issues by linking items on the basis of the ‘name column’, given the risk of using the same name for two different items across boards

If you wish to ensure the item name is unique you can use the AutoID Column app from the marketplace. The ID generated is unique per board and can be stored in the item name.

This is such a needed feature. I don’t get why Monday doesn’t allow the automatically generated Unique ID to be used in automations!

If there are already apps on the marketplace that can do it then it makes it less likely that it will be added. Also how would the automation in the original post work if they are unique ID’s? There is nothing to match with?

Using a unique ID for automation makes a lot of sense. It would definitely help avoid duplicate link issues. Hope this gets implemented!
