Detailed Dependency Information in API

Hello Team,

I hope you’re well.

As vendors developing a plugin for monday.com, we rely on the platform’s API to manage project dependencies effectively. While the existing API provides basic functionality, we encounter challenges in handling detailed dependency information. To enhance our project management capabilities and improve efficiency, we propose the following enhancements to the API:

1. Dependency Type Information:

  • Currently, the API does not provide explicit information on the type of dependency (e.g., Finish to Start, Start to Start, Finish to Finish, Start to Finish). This information is crucial for accurately managing task sequences and dependencies.
  • Introducing a field that specifies the dependency type would allow for better visualization and management of task relationships.

2. Lag of Dependencies:

  • The ability to access and modify lag details of dependencies, especially when set to “Strict” mode, is essential. Lag time helps in scheduling tasks that require a delay between the completion of a predecessor and the start of a successor task.
  • Providing this detail in the API would enable more precise scheduling and resource allocation.

Proposed Solution:

  • Introduce new fields in the API response for dependencies that include the type of dependency and lag time.
  • This enhancement would not only streamline our processes but also prevent scheduling conflicts and improve overall project management efficiency.

These features would provide broader benefits to the community, particularly in scenarios where precise task scheduling and dependency management are crucial. A more detailed API would allow developers to manage projects more effectively and maintain system integrity.

Please vote for this feature if you also find it beneficial for your use cases.

Thank you for considering this enhancement.

Best regards,
Paweł
