I use duplicates everyday and quite often because we repeat several projects on various dates for every client. Unfortunately, when I dupe an item it adds the word “copy” and adds additional "copy"s to the same Project field each time I duplicate. So as an example, an Item named “Project A” will add the text “copy” at the end like so, Project A (copy) and every subsequent dupe will add an additional “(copy)” like so, “Project A (copy) (copy)” and so on. There should be a setting to option out of adding the word “copy” in the field. I was recommend to use another app but, frankly I don’t want to pay extra for an app for something that should be an option. Here is the original discussion: How do I stop "(copy)" from being included in my Item duplicates?
you can try Remove Copy
Yeah, that would make a lot of sense, Jeff. Having “(copy)” stack up automatically every time you copy something can really become a mess, particularly if you’re dealing with duplicate projects. Having a toggle or checkbox for turning that on and off in the settings would surely be a benefit. Currently, the only current workaround is to manually rename the item every time or script/automation-strip out “(copy)” upon duplication, which isn’t perfect. Hopefully, they include that as a native feature in the near future — it’s one of those minor quality-of-life adjustments that would take so much time off for individuals duplicating projects constantly.
That is certainly an option. We have several standardized items for projects (Groups) so ironically I used Excel creating lists of Items and simply paste them into the Group. It took a while to set up but it is a work around to copying Items repeatedly. And, I do not have to delete the dreaded “(copy)”. I’m surprised they haven’t solved this issue yet.
Interesting nice idea, because they know people always found clever ways to fix things up haha
