When a form is filled a row is created in a table. One column auto fills with Email A.
Using the built in automations and outlook integration, when a new row is created, it emails Email A with information in the name and email columns.
This worked on the first test - I could see the email in my outbox and the email triggered further aspects of the automation on our end, setting the user up on our platform.
Subsequent form fills have shown as a completed automation in Monday but are not leading to a sent message in the outlook outbox, and therefore the user isnt being added to our platform.
I have tried reconnecting my outlook, and i have tried completely re-building the automation. Neither has worked.
Does anyone know why this might be? Is outlook potentially blocking the integrations? Any help apprecited.
It’s probably a timing issue, do you have access to workflow center? If so, you can add a timing delay. If not, try changing your trigger. ie instead of ‘when item created’, try ‘when column changes’ (and the column is Email A)
Thanks! I will try changing the trigger, as I’m not sure why it would be a timing issue - it’s been 2 days now and the email still hasn’t been sent from my outbox.
Sorry if this is a silly question - but what is workflow center?
Hi Dani! Following up on this thread–has the automation worked as expected after changing the trigger? Echoing Desiree, I believe the source of the issue could be timing! How is the email address populated? Have you included this action in a custom automation or did you set up this action using default item values?
If the the email address is populated via default item values, and your automation is triggered when a new form response is submitted/an item is created, the default item value feature may populate your Email Column after the automation fires.
If you are not on the Enterprise Plan tier, you will not have access to workflows. However, you can learn more about the feature here: What is monday workflows? > So, what is it?.
No I wasn’t able to get it up and running - the email is populated by and auto filled column that is filled when someone fills out a form, this adds, row to the table, and that should then trigger the email. so I imagine it’s as you suspect potentially - the value is filling out after the item is created. I dont seem to have access to a way to delay the send though?
