Email showing up as an update rather than email

I am using Monday Crm and my issue is random but sometimes when I receive an email, it comes as a notification and in my inbox. When I click the notification and that takes me to the associated contact, the email is not in the email and activities tab, it is in the updates view. I have been round and round with Monday on this issue to no solution. Any ideas?
