Enable Public Access Option for Files

Monday.com Development Team,

I would like to request a new feature that would significantly enhance the functionality of the file column in Monday.com, especially when exporting boards to Excel or when sending a notification email. Currently, files in the file column are exported as links. However, these links require the recipient to log in to Monday.com to access the files, which poses a challenge when I need to share these files with individuals who do not have Monday.com access.

Feature Request: I propose that an option be added to set file access levels. This could include the following access levels:

  • Public Access: Anyone with the link can view/download the file without logging in.
  • Private/Protected Access: Requires login to Monday.com to view/download the file (as it currently works).

Use Case: I have already uploaded hundreds of files to Monday.com, and it is impractical to re-upload them to a third-party service like Google Drive. A built-in solution within Monday.com would streamline the process and improve usability for both internal team members and external partners or clients.

I appreciate your consideration of this request, and I am hopeful that it will be prioritized in future development discussions.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I’m suggesting a new feature for Monday to enhance the file column’s functionality, particularly for exports to Excel and email notifications. Currently, exported file links require a Monday login to access, which is problematic for sharing files with those without platform access. I propose an option for setting file access levels, including:

  1. Public Access: Allows anyone with the link to view or download the file without logging in.
  2. Private Access: Maintains current restrictions, requiring login to access.

This feature would eliminate the need to re-upload files to third-party services and streamline sharing processes with external clients or partners. Thank you for considering this improvement.
