We run multiple forms into one board. We need a way of identifying the new item on the board and from which form it came from… Can we please, please, please, bring this to life! #gamechanger

You can set a default Group for the specific forms and then create an automation recipe When Item is created and and only if Item is in Group X
If you want to use Status/ Dropdown columns as the trigger for your automation, you can try out our monday app Easyfom.
One of our features is Item Default Values, that allows you to set values to the above columns for every item created with the form (when the column is not displayed on the form). Then you can set an automation recipe When Item is created and and only if Status /Dropdown is X.
