Frustration with Lack of "Timeline is Overdue" Filter in Dashboards

I’m writing this post out of frustration with a limitation that seems like a no-brainer for a platform as robust as monday.com. Why is the “Timeline is Overdue” filter, available at the board level, not usable in dashboards?

At the board level, this filter is incredibly helpful for identifying overdue work. However, when managing a portfolio or program with multiple boards, you lose that visibility entirely. Knowing what’s overdue across a portfolio is a basic necessity for effective project management—not an advanced feature or a nice-to-have.

Dashboards are supposed to give us a high-level view of progress, yet this glaring gap makes it so much harder to manage work across teams and projects. For those of us managing large-scale programs, not having a clear way to identify overdue items creates inefficiencies and forces us to create convoluted workarounds.

What’s even more disheartening is that monday.com doesn’t seem to have prioritized addressing this. Their responses as to why this isn’t supported are non-answers.

If you’re also feeling the pain of this missing feature, please share your experiences or vote for this related feature request. Maybe if enough of us speak up, we can get some traction on this.

Am I really the only person who finds this to be a problem? If you do, please chime in and please vote for the feature request here: Timeline Filter for Overdue Items at Dashboard Level

You can simply create a formula column as that returns value 1 if something is overdue and value 0 if it is not.

You can use Same Item Multiple Boards to add all your items into 1 board and work from there, did you try it out?

Hey @MarkP - you might find our new Smart Timeline + Duration app really helpful for managing dates, statuses, reminders, and assignments. It extends the native Timeline and Duration columns in ways that aren’t possible out of the box, all powered through automation, making your workflows way more dynamic and efficient.

Feel free to give it a look, and I’d love to hear your feedback or even walk you through it live if that helps!
