We have HIPAA Compliance on for our Enterprise account. We want to be able to preview full documents in the file column but this is apparently turned off by default and can’t be turned on for individual workspaces. It is worse for us if we have to download the file and save it to our laptops than it is to view the information on the preview in the file column instead. This is a major issue meaning people are having to download information that shouldn’t be on their laptops when actually viewing it in monday would be better. How can this be fixed?
Hi @caz.evans sounds like a tricky one! When using Monday.com with HIPAA Compliance enabled, certain features, like document previews in the file column, are restricted to ensure the protection of sensitive health information. Unfortunately, this restriction is applied at the account level and cannot be adjusted for individual workspaces due to the stringent requirements of HIPAA compliance.
What about linking a Monday.com document in the boards column and embedding the document within it if you have a link you can attach? That way a preview would show? I’ve shown a google drive shared link here in the example for you:

Hi, this looks like a great idea but I would have to save the file on an external system and we don’t want to do that. We want the file on the monday board. If I had the file on Sharepoint or google drive I could just link people to that space and thats the one of the problems I can’t.
I have found a tweaked way around it by turning the PDF into images and uploading the images of the pages instead which is currently working. Just a bit of a faff to do.
Hi Caz, ok - I wonder if you could try and use make / rapier to automate that process somehow but not an expert in that area.
The tweak is working well enough for now. Just not ideal

I’m happy to announce that as of April 19th, an update was launched that made file previews available for HIPAA-compliant Enterprise plans! Users experiencing issues with file previews in HIPAA-compliant accounts should be able to preview all document types, including PDFs, PowerPoint, and Excel files.
If you’re still unable to preview files in the browser, please reach out to your Account Executive (AE) to grant the feature within your account!
