Gantt chart: Group by Item is missing

One of our Project Managers was looking for this and was surprised it wasn’t possible.

You can group by Groups, but not by Items:

Yes this feature is missing. Makes the Gantt view pretty limited. You cannot Gantt several timeline columns on one Item and view it in any meaningful way.

The only way you can “group” by item that I have found is to use subitems with their own due dates. The Gantt view shifts the subitems slightly to the right of the main item, and groups them underneath the parent item name.

This is actually quite a large limitation in the usability in the Gantt charts in Monday.com. Has there been any response from Monday.com yet as to why they didn’t include grouping by item/project level?

Bumping this to follow along, has there been any update to this surprising limitation?

I had the same problem but I think the solution is just not to pick anything for the first level (which would be by default the item) and pick “By Parent” for Subitem level.

This worked for me at least, hope that helps you as well!
