How to flag accounts that are Sister/Sister or Parent/Child

Hi All,

Wanted to see how I can link accounts that have the same point of contact, or show the relationship between multiple accounts. Just looking for different ideas!

Thanks,

Kristina

Hi Kristina,

A common way to handle this is by separating Contacts and Accounts into different boards. If you have a dedicated Contacts board, you can connect one contact to multiple Accounts using a Connect Boards column. That allows the same point of contact to be linked across several accounts, and you can mirror key contact details where needed.

If you’re looking to show relationships directly between accounts, you can also connect the Accounts board to itself. This works well for things like parent companies, subsidiaries, or related organizations. Adding a simple Status or Dropdown column to define the relationship type can make those connections clearer.

If a Contact is linked to multiple Accounts, you’ll use a Connect Column on the Accounts board to associate each Account with the Contact. On the Accounts board, add a Mirror Column to reflect all connected Accounts back on the Contact’s record.

You could even look at using subitems on the Accounts board for ‘child accounts’?

If you’re looking to show relationships between accounts with the same point of contact, one approach is to use a linked column or a mirror column to connect records across boards. You can set up a central “Contacts” board and then link each account to that contact — that way you can see all related accounts in one place.

Another idea is to use automations that populate a shared field when the contact matches, so you get visual grouping or tags you can filter by. I track a lot of setup ideas in Phonexa, and having a clear link structure makes reporting and views way easier.
