We have a board to track cumulative totals for the year, and we want to update that column each month by importing only that one column and keeping all the other information on the board the same. Alternatively, we can import a new column each week to track progress over time.

You can use the Toolkit app to copy column values (eg. from Excel) right into monday.com.
Here is a demo of how.
You can already do this? Its the 3rd option when you go through the importing procedure. Only map the column you want to update, and then select Name in the menu pictured.

Hey @dfrankel noticed some ideas posted above, but in case you’re still looking for this i wanted to let you know that we have a specific feature for this in the Data Importer monday app.
You can specify a match column (from your board) and match field (from your excel). You can also map the columns so that any matches will update existing items in your board.
I’ve put together a tutorial for how this works.
