Importing tags with Zapier

I have read all community posts on this topic but it still doesn’t work on my end! Any help is appreciated! :hugs:

I am trying to import tags through Zapier using either the Change Multiple Columns Value action or the Create Item action. According to multiple sources (e.g. tag formatting, json formatting for Zapier) the way to import tags through Zapier is to use the json formatting as the input: {"tag_ids":[your_tag_id1, your_tag_id2,...]}.

Here is my attempt:

And here is the error I can when testing this action on Zapier:

I have tried all kinds of different formats of the json input but none works. The error is always the same and I cannot find a way to update the tag column. How do you all import tags with Zapier?

Hello there @tomi and welcome to the community!

I hope you like it here :muscle:

I am not sure I got what you are trying to do.

Are you trying to change the value of a tags column in a board for a specific item? Are you trying to create a new tag? Are you trying to get the data from a tag from a board to Zapier?

Hey @Matias.Monday, sorry, I was so immersed in the task I thought it’s quite obvious what I am trying to do.

I am trying to set the value(s) of a tags’ column for either a new or an already existing item. So I want to use the already existing tags (and their ids) to populate a tag’s column either upon the creation of a new item or retrospectively, when updating a specific item on a specific board.

No matter how I try to do this, Zapier protests with me. I would like to find a solution that works both for a single tag and multiple tags and either takes as input the tags’ names or their ids.

Hope this makes it clearer.

Hello again @tomi,

Would you be able to please fill this form adding as much information as possible to it (a screen recording showing the whole configuration of your zap (including board ID and item IDs would be great)) so that our team can take a look into it?

Hi @Matias.Monday, I submitted the issue with a screen recording. I would also like to point out that I am using the exact JSON formatting as outlined in this Zapier post in your knowledge base. So either Zapier changed something between now and when that post was published or that post was not double-checked for accuracy from the get-go (or I am doing something wrong - still entirely possible).

Thank you @tomi!

Our team will take a look into it and reply in the thread that you opened
