I have a board that has a column “attorney”. In the subitems, I want to set a formula and filters based on the attorney name. Therefore, I want to copy the attorney value to a subitem column (when item is created and when attorney column changes).
Is there any way to do this?
Hey Soroh,
Is it possible for you to use the connect board and mirror column to connect the parent item and column values into the subitems? You could then pull that connected/mirrored data into a formula column! What do you think?
Is there a way to do this automatically when a subitem is created?
I am afraid not at this time - this would need to be a manual task. I apologise for the setback! Please feel free to submit this as a feature request
Hey @Soroh,
We developed an app that solves this exact pain point of subitems inheriting column value from parent. It’s called Subitem Automations and it allows to do this on subitem creation and when the parent item changes, here’s an example -
On creation - Populate item’s data into its subitems in a seamless way
On change - Being able to set dependency between a subitem to an item
You can find it in the monday.com marketplace in the platform or here - monday.com: Apps Marketplace
Hope that helps!
