Item entry triggers email too fast

Sometimes when I start to create a new item, I realize I need to check something, like a name’s spelling, in another window. When I click off monday.com, it assumes I’m done with entering the new item and fires off a notification email to whoever the default assignee is.

Sometimes I’m creating the item on a board where another team member is the default assignee, but they’re out of the office, or it’s just a task that I need to do myself.

This leads to email notifcations going on with subject lines like “Set up new account for” and no name. Sometimes those email notifications go to the wrong person, and when they get back from vacation they have to follow up with me to find out what’s going on.

It would be great if the field entry could be modified so that it doesn’t create an email notification the second you click out of the item name field. Wait 30 seconds until after the last field was filed out, then send the notification email. Nobody is going to be upset about waiting 30 additional seconds to get a notification email, especailly when the alternative is incomplete notification emails.

You should be able to change that in your automations. Likely your current automation is ‘when item created, notify x’. If you create a workflow that says ‘when item created, wait 5 minutes, notify x’, that might help?
