Item-Specific Automation Trigger

Dear Monday.com Team,

I hope this message finds you well! I am writing to suggest a new feature that could significantly enhance the functionality and precision of Monday.com automations: Item-Specific Automation Triggers.

Currently, automations in Monday.com work well at a board-wide level, but there is no option to create automations tied exclusively to a single item. For example, I’d like to set up an automation that triggers only when a specific task (e.g., “Finalize Budget Report”) changes status to “Done,” without applying the same trigger to other items.

This feature would allow users to:

  1. Build automations that are granular and item-specific, eliminating the need for workarounds like additional columns or tags.

  2. Simplify workflows by reducing redundant automations for tasks with unique requirements.

  3. Improve clarity and efficiency in automation management, especially in boards with diverse tasks or multiple workflows.

Proposed Implementation:

• In the item details panel, add an “Item Automations” tab.

• Allow users to define automation triggers and actions that apply only to the selected item.

• Include support for combining these triggers with standard actions (e.g., notifications, updates, integrations).

Example Use Case:

Trigger: When the status of [Task A] changes to “Done.”

Action: Send a notification to [Person X].

This would be particularly useful in scenarios where high-priority tasks, one-off deliverables, or critical dependencies need unique workflows.

Thank you for considering this idea! I believe it could greatly enhance the flexibility and precision of Monday.com for all users. I’d be happy to discuss this further or provide additional examples if needed.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
