Is there anyway to link a contact (or more than one) to a project?

The best way to do what you are describing is to use a connect column. I assume you have a board for projects and one for contacts.
You start by creating a connect column.
Then you choose which board(s) you want to connect.

Be sure to create a two way connect so the connection will appear on all boards you choose.
And also check the following box, so for example one project can have many contacts (and the opposite).
And then you choose what you want to connect.
